The Community YMCA of Red Bank has been actively embracing Pickleball. As part of this effort, they have created 3 pickleball courts with the possibility of creating/opening 6 more depending on utilization.

Soft Open

As part of this program, they are offering free, open play until Aug 11, 2017. When the courts aren’t being used for scheduled open play, they are available for practice, arranged games, instruction, etc.

Great shot of the beautiful “Wimbledon ” green courts and the crisp white lines! It was hard to tell Day from Night with the lights on!

Great news! Any idea of the eventual cost? We have a group going at Thompson Park on Tues/ Fri mornings. Would it be beneficial for us to move to the YMCA?

Since it’s free for until July, 28, I’d say you might want to have your group check it out and do your own benefits evaluation. Additionally, I’ll forward this comment along to the Y Program Director.

I understand there are a couple of inside pickleball courts at the Y.
When I was playing there Saturday morning, a young employee from the Y said they will probably be doing away with those courts. Is there anyway we can encourage they Y to keep them so they are available on dreadfully hot days and in the winter months? thank you

Hi Sherry, It was my understanding from Kim that the reason for discontinuing use of the inside courts is because the floor is too slippery for pickleball.

I spoke to Barry from the Y this morning and he showed me the floor. He said that it really comes down to the fact that there are dead spots on the floor. He’s not shutting down indoors and even said he’d put down permanent lines, but his focus, for now, is getting the outdoor program launched.
