Well, there certainly was a lot of activity last week for being a “slow week”. As they say, hindsight is 20/20. On the national front, the USAPA Pickleball National Championships are in full swing out in Arizona. There isn’t any live coverage that I’m aware of, but hopefully, we’ll get some post-event posting on youtube.
Weatherwise, it looks as though things will be much cooler this week, but the sun should prevail for most of it.
Lessons and clinics
What is really encouraging is that we’re seeing an increase in clinics for beginners and intermediate players. Both The Atlantic Club and Colts Neck are offering programs for beginners and Colts Neck is offering a skills & drills clinic for people who already know how to play. Check out the calendar for times and places.
First Tournament
In case you missed it. Colts Neck is hosting a tournament. What makes me excited about this, is that they have level groups for Beginner, Intermediate & Advanced Groups. I highly encourage everyone to sign-up and support the tournament as a way to get more tournaments in the area. All information is posted in the link above, so head on over and sign-up.
Tip of the Week
This week isn’t so much of a tip but is more inspirational. I just received this from pickleballchannel.com so some of you that subscribed may have already seen this. The first video is the Women’s 5.0 Gold Medal Match from Huntsman World Senior Games 2017. The second video is an interview with the winners. Each video is great and both provide value as I work to improve my own game. I hope you enjoy them.
Last Week’s Results
It’s pretty clear that people prefer playing with the Onyx Pure 2 ball. To be clear, you can still play with the ball after the deadline for casual play and non-sanctioned tournaments, but chances are you won’t be able to buy new ones, so perhaps it’s time to ask Santa for some pickleballs for Christmas.
