As Fall turns to Winter and the days become shorter, many of us are looking for warmer, drier, lighter places to play. The choices and options are much more limited than when playing outdoors. Open play times are available on each facilities page. (Click the facility name to see their schedules)

Here are the options:

The Atlantic Club

The Atlantic Club has just launched their programs. They have a variety of times to play at reasonable rates. Currently, you need a group to go play, but I expect that they will offer pick-up sessions in the near future. See the location page for more information on their current offerings. The cost is $5-$10/person for open play.

Fort Monmouth Recreation Center

Monmouth County Park Systems offers open pickleball at designated times during the month. They offer both “beginner” and “experienced”  sessions throughout the week as well as an “all level” session on Friday nights.  Due to the multi-use nature of the gym, the schedule varies month-to-month. Check the calendar for the latest schedule. The cost is $5/session to drop-in. November schedule has been updated on the calendar

Colts Neck Racquet Club

Colts Neck has just started to get their program going. They currently offer 2 different open play times (Friday evening 6-8 pm and Sunday afternoons 2-4 pm). The offer progressive courts so that you can always find the right game whether you are a beginner, intermediate or advanced player. Reservations are preferred if you want to ensure your spot. The cost is $10/session to drop-in

The Colts Neck team have indicated that they plan to offer more sessions during the week as well as Saturday Afternoons. Any updates will be posted here, so stay tuned.

Colts Neck also offers a couple of programs which are great if you have a group of people looking for a place to play during specific windows. They offer both early morning and afternoon play. See the location page for more information

New Shrewsbury Racquet Club

Courts are available to rent for $24/hour.

Little Silver Tennis Club

Little Silver is just getting their pickleball program launched. Stay tuned for more details as they become available.

Ocean Township Rec

Rumor has it at this point that Township of Ocean board of Recreation will be offering indoor pickleball. I will post details here as they become available. For more information check the Winter 2017/2018 program (page 8) (link)

Polar Bears

Of course, you can still play outdoors. If you are still interested in playing outside in the cold weather, you may find it challenging to find a game. I am putting together an e-mail list for players to post games/times. Unlike many of the e-mail lists out there already, you can join or leave the list at any time simply by subscribing/unsubscribing. To become part of the list, simply provide your e-mail address below.

[mailgun id=”polarbears@monmouthpickleball.org” collect_name=”true”]

To send e-mail to the group, simply address your e-mail to polarbears@monmouthpickleball.org

Only members of the list will be able to send e-mails to each other. I am still working through all of the details on how to unsubscribe but will be happy to remove you if you contact me directly until I get that resolved.

When looking to set up a time, including the following:

Location

Date/Time

Levels (1.0 – 5.0)

Example:

To: polarbears@monmouthpickleball.org

Subject: Thompson Park –  10/26/17 – 9-11am – 2.5 – 3.5

Looking for folks that want to brave the elements and play outside at Thompson Park.

If there are other locations to play indoors that are open to everyone that I haven’t covered please let me know via the contact form
