This week in pickleball – August 7, 2017

As we try to figure out how much and what content to share with the community, I wanted to try out a new weekly post that talks about the activities of the week.

Community YMCA Grand Opening – 8/11

The Community YMCA will have its grand opening on Friday, August, 11 at 10 am. There will be demonstrations (with commentary) which are a great opportunity to get more insight into the game. Ideal for beginners that want more strategy and technique. There will also be opportunities to play, so bring your paddle and come dressed to play!

This is also the last week of all free play at the Y. If you haven’t checked out this fantastic facility, I would encourage you to come down to one of the open play times and check it out. There are almost always games to be had during open time.

FREE Officiating Clinic – 8/12

Kim Smith has arranged for an official from NJ Senior Olympics to give a free 2-hour class on scorekeeping and refereeing. This session will help you better understand the rules, how to score a sanctioned match and better understand the role of the referee in pickleball. Come support the community and enhance your understanding of the rules. There are only 10 spaces left, so sign up today. REGISTER HERE

I am still trying to figure out if using this website for pickup games is feasible and if so, how do we do it. If you have any ideas, please feel free to share.
