I know that a lot of people are upset that USAPA is dropping Onix Pure 2 and Onix indoor pickleballs from the approved list at the end of January, but fear not. Onix is releasing a new ball on December 15th, that is USAPA approved called the Onix Fuse. They are starting with the yellow, outdoor ball but will be releasing indoor and other colors in the future.

According to the Onix Fuse Product Page

Ready to play right out of the box, the all-new ONIX Fuse Pickleball create a consistency between the indoor and outdoor game. These all-new pickleballs are specifically designed and optimized for pickleball, providing the truest flight and most authentic bounce available. The Fuse balls have exceptional seam welding offering greater durability and resists splitting. The superior balanced ball is strategically aligned with precision-drilled holes. Featuring smaller holes and precise weighting, the Fuse ball delivers optimal rebound and resists wind interference. The balls meet USAPA requirements for outdoor tournament pickleball play.

Update #2:

I received the following e-mail from Lucas at Onix Customer Service

Thanks for reaching out.  We definitely want to clear up any confusion regarding the Pure 2 and the Fuse ball.  So to start, yes you are correct that after January 31 the Onix Pure 2 (Indoor and Outdoor) will not be USAPA approved balls.  Now, that only effects USAPA sanctioned events/tournaments.  If you were to host a tournament that isn’t sanctioned by the USAPA the Pure 2 ball is completely legal.  We do plan on continuing the Pure 2 ball for a little bit moving into 2018 as we do know there are many like yourself and your community who love the Onix Pure 2 ball.  However, at some point, they will be completely gone to the Fuse ball.  The Fuse ball is, in theory, the exact same ball as the Onix Pure 2 from a playability and characteristic standpoint except that it doesn’t require conditioning out of the box and has a lower bounce height.  The things you love about the Pure 2 will still be there, it will just bounce a little lower.  The outdoor Fuse ball will be launching December 15th of this year and it will only be yellow for now.  We will be launching an indoor ball in orange in 2018 but do not have a solid date on that yet. If you have any other questions please let me know.

Thank you for your update on the Onix ball.
Regarding the Colts Neck Tournament, do you know if there is a place that I can see the teams that have registered in the tournament?
    Thank you,
