Looks like a great week to be outside playing pickleball. Sunny and low 70’s all week long.  You will see more content on the website than usual as some of the things that we’ve been working on are coming to fruition. I hope everyone enjoys it.

Colts Neck ramping up program

The Colts Neck Racquet Club has started to offer more open play. With cooler weather coming, the timing couldn’t be better. Having attended their first open play event last Friday, I can tell you that it’s a great facility. Additionally, there is a clear understanding of the need structure, helping everyone find the right game. Cost is $10. For the remainder of October, the times offered are:

  • Fridays – 6 pm – 8 pm
  • Sundays – 2 pm – 4 pm

Look for more times (mid-week) coming soon.

Call Colts Neck Racquet Club  (732) 431-9500 for more information and to reserve your spot.

Tip of the Week

This week’s tip is about warming up your body before setting foot on the court. A proper warmup lessens the likelihood of injury and can reduce the aches and pains that we usually leave to ibuprofen or her sister naproxen sodium. Additionally, it can avoid an unnecessary trip to physical therapy. As the weather cools off, this is even more important.

Most therapists recommend a dynamic stretch (as opposed to static). Dynamic stretching gets your body ready for motion.  For more information, see this link.

Last Week’s Poll

Wow! Last week’s numbers are clear, people want to practice. I’ve been talking with Kim, and we are going to work together to put together a couple of practice sets that people can then use to get out and practice. For those that are not in the boot camps that are being taught, dedicated practice with purpose is the single most effective way to improve your game.

Tournament News

Unfortunately, the Rossmoor Fall Classic was canceled this weekend due to uncooperative weather. Even though the tournament didn’t go off, please join me in thanking Frank Nobile and his entire team of volunteers who organized and set up for tournament play, not once but twice!

    Greg,
Thank you for your kind words.
    FYI,
We do the Rossmoor Spring Classic, and the Rossmoor Fall Classic.
I have been told that Rossmoor has the finest dedicated four court Pickleball courts in the Northeast. Between those two tournaments there is The NJ Senior Olympics in Woodbridge. We Also, do a perpetual weekly Pickleball Ladder League.
